Alpha

Looking for answers? The Alpha course is an opportunity for anyone to explore the Christian faith in a relaxed, non-threatening manner over ten thought-provoking weekly sessions.  Those wanting to investigate Christianity, new Christians, newcomers to the church and those wanting to brush up on the basics are all welcome.

Included in each session is a meal, dessert, fellowship, a video, small groups and great discussions! Alpha runs for 10 weeks. Most of the Cranbrook churches in town are supporters of Alpha.  Check out Alpha's website at the link to the left or phone the Cranbrook Alliance Church office at 489-4704 for more information.

Our Alpha course is now occuring, and will run through to December 4, 2008.

If you are interested in taking the Alpha Course, please check with other churches in Cranbrook.  The Alpha Course is non-denominational and is offered by other churches at various times during the year. The Alpha Course is a short, practical introduction to the Christian faith.  It includes an optional weekend away.

We will be leading the course with a team of volunteers.  Each evening begins with dinner at 6:00 pm, includes a video presentation of apprximately 45 minutes, and ends with an opportunity to meet in small groups to discuss and study the Bible.  All meetings will take place on Thursday evenings at the Cranbrook Alliance Church.

There is no registration fee for the course;  however, donations are accepted to help cover the administrative costs, including meals.

Watch this page in the future for courses being offered through our church.

What is Alpha?

Alpha is for:

Anyone interested in finding out more about the Christian faith.  Adults of all ages are welcome.

Learning and laughter.  It is possible to learn about the Christian faith and to have fun at the same time!

People meeting together.  An opportunity to get to know others and to make new friends.

Helping one another.  The small groups give you a chance to discuss issues raised during the talks.

Ask anything. Alpha is a place where no question is seen as too simple or too hostile.

What Happens at Alpha?

A delicious complimentary dinner is prepared each week.  Afterwards there is a video and discussion on topics such as:

  • Who is Jesus?
  • Why did Jesus Die?
  • Why and How Should I Read the Bible?
  • Why and How Do I Pray?
  • What About the Holy Spirit?
  • How Can I Overcome Evil?
  • Why and How Should I Tell Others?
  • Does God Heal Today?
  • What About the Church?

After each talk there is a small-group time for everyone to discuss any questions or issues they have.  This gives an opportunity to get to know each other and to learn together.
