The Cranbrook Alliance Church is offering very basic Computer Training Workshops for people who have little experience with computers.  Cost is $35/workshop for 4-6 participants, OR $30/workshop for 7-10 participants for a two hour class, 6:30 pm-8:30 pm, maximum 10 in each class, paid in advance.

July 6 Internet Explorer & Google Does googling have you bamboozled? Learn all the tricks of Googling effectively, and saving internet images, organizing favorites.
     
July 20 Tips & Tricks Tips and Tricks to make your computing more effective - keyboard shortcuts, copy & paste, customizing the taskbar, using the Links toolbar... you may be doing things the way you know how - but perhaps there is a better way!
     
August 10 Understanding Files Do you have some folders called “New Folder” on your computer? Want to
know why they’re there? This workshop will teach you File Management, to
understand folder hierarchy, to move and copy large groups of files, give
you ideas for managing your photos, show you how & where to save files &
downloads. Truly a “must have” course for everyone, especially new users.
     
August 24 Working with Images Most of your software has the ability to insert pictures, either photos or cartoons and everything in between.  This workshop will look at the different kinds of photos you can inssert, and how to do basic manipulation like resize, crops, lighten, darken.  In Word, we'll show you how to use the Drawing Toolbar to insert WordArt, and the tricks to getting text to wrap properly.
     
August 31 Newsletters in Word Building on the previous workshop (how to manipulate images in Word), the next step is to learn how to turn your Christmas letter into a nice looking newsletter, using columns, and mast headings, with text on top of transparent images, wrapping text around photos, etc.  Make your Christmas newsletter look really snazzy this year with these tips.  Text and images will be provided, you just bring the laptop, we’ll show you the rest.
